I enjoy RPF. If people don't like RPF, that's fine. If people think RPF is morally wrong and I'm a bad person, that's fine.

If people make no mention of RPF on their main accounts, but have a whole separate fandom identity where they post RPF and make a new secret group of friends who are also into RPF, and become a known and popular member of their RPF fandom while not breathing a word of this to their main account friends (some of whom are into RPF), imo, that is inexcusable.

b!s yes, this is about a specific person. Someone I was friends with ten years ago. Yes I'm still bitter about it (and still in the RPF fandom she flounced from in 2015).

I mean, as long as she wasn't his patient anymore, it's not that bad.

Why does it bother you? I could see thinking they're a hypocrite if they bashed RPF on Account 1 and wrote it on Account 2, but if they make no mention of it on Account 1, what's the big deal? Maybe they have real-life stuff to consider and want a division between the two.

It isn't bad at all. It isn't like she would have been a long term patient of his. Hell, she probably didn't say more than a few words to him.

I was gonna choose the other misnamed one, but chose right at the last second.

not OP but it makes sense why this would upset them-- if they're open about liking RPF it sucks to realize you've been left behind when it would be obvious to be integrated into account 2.

Well, the issue was that he made a date with her while she was checking out of the hospital, while pretending he hadn't just participated in her operation. That's the part that creeped me out.

The truth only came out on the day of the date, after she suggested a restaurant where the food didn't agree with... um, the surgery results.

Very true! Jackie Brown is always the first movie I think of whenever the topic comes up about adaptations being bad if they don’t follow the book exactly.

This, so much. I am a voracious reader and book dragon. I couldn't care less if a movie is not a 100% faithful adaptation. There are often reasons (usually logistical) of why something is left out or changed.

Only movie adaptation I LOATHED was John Carpenter's Vampires (based on the book by John Steakley) and this was solely because the movie killed off every main character bar one, five minutes in, which changed EVERYTHING and honestly defeated the purpose of 'adapting' the book to film.

It’s been a while since we did one of these. Big juicy stuff, small stuff no one else would get, and everything in between. Spill here!

I'm the first person to say "the book was better" but film is a very different storytelling medium. It can't be a 1-1 translation. So long as a film gets the narrative point of the book and doesn't screw up the characters, I'm happy. Unfortunately, that is apparently a very high bar.
