This is true, but I'm not quite comfortable with comparing someone hating their oppressor (even in a fictionalized context) to be on par with racists who jerk it to interracial fetish and whatnot.

While that's true enough, it doesn't sound like the self-insert character being the fetishized human is the kind of ship fic the writers are writing.

It would just make it all more interesting! I mean, making him fall for a human and there being a tension on his ideals and the human he finds himself caring about, very fun. (I don't self-ship, I swear, never played the game, I just like robots.)

At least with him you can play around it, but I've seen people self-ship in a loving way with AM and had the same thought as yours. It doesn't bother me thought, cheers to them.

I don't think I agree with you about D.Vattra, I'm biased for liking the ship haha, but I've never seen anyone erase her personality for the ship like most ships that are hidden self-insert, actually people seen to really enjoy to play on their differences, so I don't see how it's a thin veneered self-insert outside from assuming it is because he is a popular character on that camp.

It still ignores this part of his, I'll give you that, but honestly, there are ships that are way worse in the OOC field. Sorry, just wanted to go for its defense. >.>

It's been a while since I've been in the OW fandom, but back in my self insert OW days, and I'm sure today, turning what he hates into something more nuanced is grade A prime wagyu beef for a fic writer.

... I can't figure out what RME means in this context, other than probably some kind of expression of rage.

I can see the appeal, enemies to lovers is a very popular trope. Maybe Ramattra never would, but creating a situation in which he does just makes the ship spicier. Whether the fic authors can make it believable is a different thing, of course.
