A friend once told me they thought Charlastor (Charlie x Alastor) was a bad ship and shouldn't exist and they hated it and I just nodded along but lately I've fallen more and more into liking it in AU bc of fanart and really good fanfic ( "If You like Pina Coladas" on A03 is sublime and great art) and I find myself now being kinda annoyed by the claims it's an immoral or bad ship but also weirdly guilty about it bc they probably still hate it and idk)

TBH I don't really know what angle they can really use to argue it's wrong . Like Charlie is.. a damn adult? At least 20s coded? and also like ...the only reason Al acted like she was like a daughter to him was to piss off Lucifer Like its OBVIOUS it's not even subtext the way he keeps looking back at Luc while singing it.

If Al is a big bad pedo for dating Charlie than so is Vaggie? Have they considered that?

Anyway It's not like I ship it instead of CharliexVaggie . I ship them on main. I just.. find Charlastor a fun AU concept. And in that AU I have Vaggie with another woman like Cherry Bomb or something.

I used to kind of hate the idea of Drarry and totally not understand why people shipped it, given what a contemptable little nothing Draco is in canon. Then I got desperate for some escapist reading material during the covid lockdown and decided to try reading a couple of Drarry fics, and now Drarry is my OTP for the Harry Potter fandom.

I am visiting my sister since it is her birthday. We are going to her in-laws tomorrow to grill since we have some not as terrible weather.

Hiking! I joined a local group and have signed up for two different group hike events, one Saturday morning and one Sunday morning. A little bit regretting it because right now I'd really like to sleep in tomorrow, but I know I'll be happy that I went.

It's a tax free weekend here in Massachusetts. I have to buy a garbage disposal tomorrow so that I can eventually get it installed soon.

Next Monday, we'll all be in Taxachusetts again.

Well my bro and I planned to go to DenFur this weekend but we got the wrong weekend and only figured this when we were at the hotel it was at. Which in retrospect we could have figured just checking the website before we left. Lol embarassing ...

But we got to go to Mellow Mushroom and tomorrow the fam is celebrating his birthday which will be fun. and then Sunday is a lazy day. .

And I have time to print something for the actual con now so I can do some art networking when I'm there.

Idk if anyone cares but a bit ago I was asking a lot of questions about travel and luggage and stuff and I just wanted to say, I am back from my trip and it was a rousing success! My first ever solo trip and my first ever trip overseas and I had a blast and am already thinking of planning another one (if I can save up and get the time off). Thank you for those of you that helped with my various random questions! I had so much anxiety going into this and I tend to deal with anxiety by obsessively researching and trying to prepare.

I’m so happy for you! I know there was extra anxiety because of the flights being all messed up from that Windows bug. I’m glad you were able to go despite that and have a great time. I hope you can have another fabulous adventure soon!

Howdy readers, what're we all reading?

I just found a copy of Pamela Dean's The Secret Country which I remember fondly from years and years ago, so I'm excited to jump into that.

Before that was a random Nora Roberts book that I stumbled upon in a Free Library that was a surprisingly fun read.

A great non-fiction read: DESIGNA Technical Secrets of the Traditional Visual Arts.

It’s a compilation of design and mathematical essays. The book also explains how repeated motifs in nature serve as inspiration to many visual artists throughout history. As someone who occasionally dabbles in digital art, I find this fascinating.

I’m so terribly glad I bought this book.
