I ship whoever has the best chemistry. Unfortunately, most of the time that's not a canon ship.

I ship lots of canon and also lots of not canon. I ship what is interesting to me, what has chemistry to me, what works to me.

Although, I will say, for me it is most important that it feels in-character, at least to me personally. That may or may not be canon. But I tend not to read ships that feel too OOC to me.

I don’t care what others think, I ship the characters I find interesting and that have chemistry. Canon rarely goes in a direction I like, so…fanfiction to the rescue!

I almost never ship a canon pairing so the fact that I have shipped one recently was a bit of a revelation. There's so much fic for it! OTOH, the bashing other pairings is just as common as it is for non-canon pairings, which is kind of disappointing: your ship is canon! Isn't that what you wanted?

There was more about her world in a few of the early TNG novels, and I agree that a failed colony would have been very interesting to explore, though probably not in the TNG version of Star Trek.

Just went through almost 2 years of posts to find this because I was curious about their arguments for the idea (it was posted on December 30, 2022!), and was amused by the fact that not 2 weeks later was a secret - unrelated, based on how it was worded, though I'm not the OP, so I can't say - stating that they wanted a reboot done through a 2020s gender lens.

(Was also annoyed that they didn't say what they thought people would object to...but it's probably Ranma's sex-swapping.)
