That is definitely a part of it, yes.

That Charlie is forced to confront the fact that some people won't get redeemed, while Steven wasn't is an obvious difference, of course. But not one, for clarity, that I think makes one better than the other.

There was that Ruby who never got redeemed. She later threatened Greg’s life to try to force Steven to burn down Beach City.

I had forgotten about Eyeball and Aquamarine. And Steven actually has issues with that, now that I think of it, so my point isn't quite accurate.

Though I do think there is a difference in feel of Eyeball and Aquamarine still being out there being angry, but still unshattered and capable of redeeming themselves in future, while even *White Diamond* is at least mostly redeemed, compared to Adam dying without a glimmer of even potential to change his ways and Charlie thinking that Sir Penteus had died unredeemed.
