Can't tell if this is a troll or if being a terf just makes you THAT stupid, but in both cases the creators of those characters have described them as nonbinary, a thing that has existed as long as there have been humans. I mean, I certainly remember reading about a VARIETY of nonbinary genders before the invention of tumblr, but then, not being a terf, I've read more than seven children's books in my life.

Hold on, Ouran's creator described Haruhi as nonbinary? Genuinely curious here.

Third genders aren't "nonbinary;" they're social roles reserved for people who don't properly fit into the roles expected of their sex. They come with specific restrictions and obligations are often used to get around having to acknowledge same-sex attraction.

There's a reason the hijra soundly rejected the trans community's attempt to identify with them, and that the fa'afafine will tell you that they're male. You're misunderstanding these people and using them to lend credence to a modern Western fashion.

Wow, two entire third genders out of hundreds, and you using cherry-picked examples from them at that.

Third genders are absolutely nonbinary, what the heck to you think "nonbinary" means? It means "more than two"!

Third (or fourth, or fifth, or whatever) genders that come out of cultures other than the hegemonic global one often don't line up particularly with tumblr enbies' identities, and the way they interact with the Western male/female identities can be complicated (by a lot of things, especially racism!) but "nonbinary" is an umbrella term with a wide umbrella, tumblr enbies identies don't line up particularly well with anything, and including all kinds of "third genders" is the entire point of having an umbrella.

(Also, "soundly rejected" is vastly oversimplified to the point of an outright lie when it comes to hijras' relationships with trans communities. You're one of those people who also falsely claim no intersex people want to be included under lgbt+, aren't you?)

Can we not divide nonbinary people into "the good ones from cultures who have had their own version of nonbinary for thousands of years" and "dumb Westerners who figured out their identity after they heard about it on Tumblr"
