1. Spend time with my kitty. She's the very best bad mood buster.

2. Watch something that is a favorite of mine, preferably something hopeful. Usually LOTR or Star Wars for movies or Doctor Who, Babylon 5, or Star Trek for TV.

3. Play music that makes me happy.

4. Figure out something that I can look forward to in the next few weeks.

Well, I think I can provide. This is Joanna, better known as Squirmy. She knows just how cute she is and just how to use that cuteness to control her humans. She's currently jumped up on my bed to take a nap on my legs like she does most evenings.

Thanks. I feel like the luckiest human to have been chosen by her. And yes, she's very soft. And very sweet. And also very feisty. She's all cat, and I love her so much.

Also, it is a good thing she's so soft because she thinks I'm a cat bed, and it would be far less nice and comfortable if she wasn't so soft. :)

We share the same tactics!

My ultimate trick was to spend time with my dog, but she passed away last month. She was 17. But I think not having her around is a huge reason I'm so miserable lately and can't seem to shake it.

I'm so sorry. That's awful. You lost a family member, of course you are miserable. You are allowed to mourn. I think anyone who has had an animal companion would understand.
