Johnny Gaudreau was killed in an accident

For those who don't know, he was a hockey player, playing most recently for the Columbus Blue Jackets.

He and his brother were in New Jersey for their sister's wedding, and were going to be groomsmen. They went for a bike ride. A drunk driver struck and killed them both.

They both leave behind wives and children.

I'm not a Blue Jackets fan, and obviously knew of Gaudreau, but didn't follow his career very closely. But this is horrible. My gods, his poor family. To lose two people like that, at once, in such an awful manner. Their kids! Their sister, that poor woman.

This is one of those stories that just really makes you want to go hug all your loved ones.

It’s sent shockwaves through the global hockey community. The driver is facing two counts of vehicular homicide. They may tack a DUI charge on but likely are waiting for results of a blood sample. The driver was passing a car in the right because he thought the car in front of him moved left to block him passing him. The whole thing is just fucked :(

I don't follow hockey, but yeah, I saw this story online earlier today and man, my heart goes out to all their poor family members. I can't even begin to imagine what they're going through right now. What an awful, horribly sad story the whole way around.
