We still hating on Fortnite? It's a fun game with a shit ton of different modes to play (some of the horror games people manage to make are pretty good). And unless you want to buy skins, free!

While I do feel a little embarrassed because I feel like the target audience is much younger, it is mostly unfortunate for me because there isn't really a story or characters for me to sink my teeth into. I like fic and fandom with my hyperfixations and Fortnite seems to be just about the gameplay for me.

While I'm here...do you have any creator games to recommend? I've mostly stuck to the official games - Zero Build and the Festival ones are my current obsessions.

(Thank you Secret!Maker for making this secret! Beautiful pic you chose!)

Yeah the Fortnite story is pretty thin and requires looping in other fandoms.

I only play Zero Build modes. Also the racing one but that's just for the car skins.

I enjoy the horror games by dojomaps-horror. That is the only one in particular I know the name of. My sister and I usually just pick a random top rated one but I've played all of theirs.

While there is story and it is a bit thin, take heart, OP, the fandom has plenty of fanfics out there. Admittedly a lot of it is Midas. Lately there's been a lot of Society or Wastelander stuff as well.

Also reccing a creator game: if you like something like Phasmophobia, you'll love Phantom Investigation (Reimagined). If you like puzzle type stuff, I suggest searching for a lot of the "escape room" type stuff because people make some really creative ones.

I understand that 'unfortunately' part so well - though for me it isn't the fandom, exactly, it's just that the focus of my current case of brain worms is a secondary character that most of the fandom feels various degrees of hatred for *sigh*
I wouldn't touch the fandom if not for this one character, but reading one little fact about them set my brain on fire in March and I'm still waiting for the flames to die down. I ran out of fic and regular content suppliers months ago, whyyyyyyy? T_T

but reading one little fact about them set my brain on fire

Oh god do I know this feeling. It is the best and the worst. Dare I ask what it was?

In Final Fantasy VII, Reeve Tuesti controls Cait Sith with a magic ability called Inspire that lets him give life to inanimate objects - he isn't just controlling Cait from his desk like in-game RPG. He also has some kind of link to/control of the mako reactors. It was supposed to be in the original game but got cut for time, so you'd think it would just be a 'could have been' thing but they keep adding this fact to supplementary material like it's more a background detail for the character rather than a dropped plot point. I WANT MORE DETAILS like burning (how does this work?? How much of Cait Sith is AI, how much is Reeve...?!), but Cait Sith is a secondary character who most people simply call a traitor and hate, while Reeve Tuesti is a mere background character that most people barely remember and those who do call a coward. Since he isn't one of the big shipping triad or Sephiroth, I think the chances of getting juicy new material that fuels fanworks are pretty low T_T

It's not my game but enjoy what you want OP without shame. Tbh the onlt reason I've never gotten into it is because it's a PvP shooter game and I don't like either of those things, otherwise maybe I'd be into it too.

It was the new version of Rock Band that sucked me in. I loved that game back in the day, and while the Festival isn't the same it is close enough for me to have fun.

Festival is what kept me playing too!

I'm sorry and I get what you mean but I keep coming back to this comment because "I don't like anything about this game but if it were completely different I might" is sending me...

PLAY ASTRO BOT.

(Anonymous) 2024-09-16 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
Not-Op

Astro Bot looks awesome, but it's also a game you need to buy and own a PS5 for. In comparison to Fortnite that is free...

Astro Bot is free in Fortnite. I just played it. Turns out it is one of those equally fun and frustrating games for me!
