In the US, sure you can leave your job, if you've got enough money to pay your bills without employment. You can also kiss your health care coverage goodbye, but that's easy as long as you're in good health and don't have any accidents or have an ongoing medical condition that requires medication. That includes any kids you might have. And if your field is in high demand, why you can just get a better job without having to relocate.

So yeah, quitting your job is easy peasey lemon squeezy!

It doesn't have to be, though? I haven't had health insurance tied to a job for years now; I just buy it on the marketplace and that way I never have to worry about quitting or being laid off. I learned my lesson after I got stuck in a job far longer than I really should have been there because I needed the health insurance. Never again.
