Is anyone really complaining about this twist because they object to the idea of Palpatine having fucked and not like, the fact that it walked back the much cooler twist of the previous movie for something dumb and unoriginal?

I have definitely heard it argued against by people that did the math and figured out that Rey's dad was conceived after ROTS, so after Palpatine was disfigured. They were pretty disgusted. (This was in the three months between TROS and its novelization, before we learned Rey's dad was a clone.)

All these dudes don't remember when the old EU specifically referred to Emperor Palpatine having at least one lover. So yeah, definitely after disfigurement.
