eh, i don't like kid fic or preg fics because i find them booooooring, omg so boring.
before someone jumps at my throat (because damn this thread is something else), i actually quite like children IRL (am a teacher and some of my students (actually my favourites) are kids), but in fiction and especially fanfiction they are ALWAYS boring with boring plot lines. who wants to read a boring fic? Not me.

You do you, nonny. You don't need to justify why you don't read a certain type of fiction to anyone. I hope you will find support and find a way to deal with your trauma.
I had some hang ups on kids when I was younger, too. I was heavily bullied too age 4-11, sexually molested by an older kid, but mostly my issues were from the facts that kids are usually way more chaotic than adults and I couldn't predict them and that gave me a lot of anxiety. I was a control freak with socialization issues. I got better with time and therapy.
Since becoming exposed to them in a working and familiar environment, I got to appreciate children a lot more. In fact now I prefer them to a lot of adults, lol. what i don't like are other adults around children, though. they are frankly ridiculous most of the time. I don't find kids "cute" in the slightest, I find them "interesting" and "intellectually stimulating", so I avoid dealing with adults with small kids as much as I can. The awkward moment of "I should say this small child is cute to please the mother/father" is actually anxiety inducing to me aha.

So yeah, in fics kids are usually supposed to be "cute" and not "interesting" so that's why i never read them.

Yeah, I am ok with kids in RL. But kidfics are really boring
