Scare chords like music? Or when they do the jump scare noise?

Here are some recs that don't have dolls, puppets, or hurt animals but have interesting creature designs like The Ritual. Alien/Aliens, Underwater, Oujia: Origin of Evil, The Host, The Descent, Barbarian.

The Thing has some of the best monster design I've seen but unfortunately, a lot of animals are harmed. Mimic (1997) has a dead dog in it but it is pretty fake looking.

I'd check doesthedogdie.com to check out all triggers in each of the movies I suggested.

I'd also suggest that you try podcasts if you enjoy those! I can highly recommend knifepoint horror, The NoSleep Podcast, Wolf 359, We're Alive, Wrong Station, and some episodes of The Truth.

+1 podcasts are REALLY good for this vibe! And there are a lot of horror-oriented podcasts out there. It's a good match between genre and medium.

The jump scare noise. Not only does it actually make me jump but it hurts my ears with the sharpness.

I loved Underwater, I feel like it was criminally under advertised.

It is! I think people saw Kirsten Stewart and wrote it off.
