I feel the same, OP. Very into vampires and not werewolves. Honestly I just find vampires more interesting in general. But I can also see why shapeshifters in general would be a thing for others. Most of the time werewolves aren't full-on wolves, and definitely in media with canon romances with werewolves they certainly aren't.

IA.

I find werewolves fascinating! And like, werewolf characters can obviously still be sexy. If you're a tough grizzled badass, that's going to be sexy whether you're a werewolf or not. But wolf forms are not sexy to me. Not hot.

Most versions I see, at least in canon, don't have sex happening during full moon time unless the "wolf form" isn't full on wolf and the body remains mostly human.

But see, I feel like at that point, it's not werewolves being sexy. It's sexy characters who happen, unrelated to their sexiness, to be werewolves.

Whereas with vampires, the fact that the character is a vampire actively makes them much sexier.

Naw, as someone who really likes werewolves but doesn't like the furry sex aspect of it, them being a were- and transforming once a month (or whatever the author decides the lore is) is a big appeal. Big sexy person who is just normal person? Blah. Big sexy person who is also a werewolf? Yes please!

I'm not entirely sure since it isn't my thing. But I think some people find the whole "animalistic" idea sexy, as in instincts that aren't entirely controllable, animal-like wildness, strength, all that.

dogs/=wolves

I am the opposite. Give me an alive adult with a hearbeat and there is a possibility they may be hot. Vampires? Big pile of ick for me. But I get what youre saying, even if I don't agree I can see where you're coming from.

There are different version of vampires, they aren't all dead. But I also totally get why this would be a squick.

I think Buffy scarred me. It seemed a big thing in fic for awhile to go on about Angel's cold quiet body as she snuggled up to him. It was supposed to be soecial and romantic but *shudder* Nope nope nope.

Same, I don't care for the undead aspect and tbh I find most vampire characters very samey and overdone. Personally just don't find them interesting, but werewolves or other monsters? Yes please.

(Anonymous) 2024-09-29 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
Yup. Vampires are just so unsexy to me.

(Anonymous) 2024-09-28 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Totally understandable squick! Tbh I think the taboo/gross aspect is the appeal for a lot of people, that it blends a sexy character with something monstrous and unsexual.

Hang on, this is a comment I made, and not in the "secrets you want made" thread. Who made it into a secret and why? I don't mind, it's just a little weird seeing it here.

That's odd, I've heard of that being done now and again but not in awhile.
