I like M/F ships, a lot of them. But when it comes to PWPs, I'll only read M/F if it is BDSM. That isn't because those are even my kinks, either. Just like in the romance/erotica publishing world, in fanfic a vast majority of M/F PWPs are thinly disguised BDSM without the rules and boundaries and without the tag. If your male character is barking orders, that's at least D/s, please stop pretending otherwise.
