Based on 3

What interests and hobbies have you lost interest in since COVID? Conversely, is there anything you got into after COVID?

Quarantine got me into fandom again. I thought I was done with fandom entirely, but without being able to see people often IRL, I dived right back into it.

Same. I started writing fic again for the first time in 10 years.

Walking.

Before the lockdowns, I would walk every day. An hour or two just wandering the city. Obviously, during the lockdowns, that stopped.

I haven't really gotten back into it since they ended, though.

I still walk by preference when I have somewhere to go (in fact, that's actually better now, as I've moved to a smaller town and more things are walking distance), but I don't walk just to walk. Keep saying I need to, but...

Same. I used to walk 4-8 miles a day. Now I don't even do a mile. I miss it, but I have a hard time getting back into it.

I used to do a lot of walking as well. I stopped during Covid and meant to pick it back up when restrictions lifted, but then my dog died and I found no reason to start it up again.

goddamn I miss walking. Loved doing it on my break at work, but now I remote and can't be bothered, even though there's no excuse.

Heh, I got a little resentful of the people who *started* walking due to Covid, because they were so bored being cooped up at home. I was like "that's my thing, stop cluttering up my route!" (Spoiler: Um, no, that is definitely NOT a thing that belongs to me alone, and they had every right to walk for whatever reasons they had.) I suppose I could've made friends but I didn't know who or who wasn't... um, way too political about Covid and didn't want to risk getting sick.

Lost interest: film photography, makeup, baking, cooking

Got into: personal fashion ID, nail art

And writing has been having its ups and downs. During lockdown, a fandom friend and I got a lot written for a long running fanfic we've been writing for years. Unfortunately I haven't been able to write my chapter for at least 2 years now. I reread it last week and got mad that I haven't updated it because it was getting good

I got back into writing fanfic. I’d forgotten how much fun it could be.

I haven't lost interest in cosplaying but holy shit the post-covid cosplay landscape is terrible. If you aren't cultivating a social media presence, you might as well only wear a costume for Halloween, and buy it bootlegged from China for that purpose. Conventions have become so much ass out of desperation to make back their lockdown-cancellation losses, but there's nowhere else to wear something you spent time and effort polishing up with all that lockdown downtime. Almost everything is monetized now, too, from photoshoots to easy 3D printed armor. It's getting depressing.

I kinda lost interest in all writing thanks to COVID. This has shifted a bit, but photography is more my bag right now.

Lost interest in going to the movie theatre, which was a regular occurrence for me up until then. I may randomly do so again one day though.

Weirdly, I returned to making music covers during covid.

Mostly anything that has to do with people. I was one of the "essential" workers that still went to work every day (supermarket/post office so less essential and more expendable), having daily discussions about mask mandates, distancing and all that shebang with people who treated their trip to the supermarket as family outing (because there was nothing else to do). I'm STILL peopled out (the current economy hasn't made people nicer). So anything... than includes tons of people really. I was always an introvert but I still think it sucks.

I guess I didn't get back into anything but I'm reading even more books now?

I feel you anon, bc I'm only just now realizing my tolerance for crowds of strangers is near zero. Even if it's something innocent like an outdoor art fair or idk a cheese festival or something, my trust in all those strangers has eroded to nothing. It's like there's no reason to go out among them if the gathering is unlikely to be more fun or interesting than being home with a selection of streaming channels and video games. idk if I'll ever recover to a pre-covid level.

I have no idea why this is but covid actually made me like opera, which just used to sound like people screaming to me.

Well, they say COVID makes you lose your sense of taste.

(I'll see myself out.)

Movie theatres. I just don't go to them any more.

I go occasionally with something I'm really excited about. But pre-COVID I used to go all the time, it used t be my favorite way to relax. I still enjoy the theater experience, but I just don't do it very often. Last movie I saw in theater was Honor Among Thieves last year.

I've never been a nightclub person, but my friend talked me into going to a few goth clubs before lockdown and I was really getting into them - but now I'm back to square one and even less inclined because everything seems more louder than before; to the point where I usually keep my headphones on when I go out and have been considering getting something like loops for ear protection.

I haven't so much lost interest in writing as lost the ability. Just so exhausted, keeping myself and my mother safe, and I never recoverred the baseline that enabled my creativity.

Gained interest in travel, and luckily, thanks to my divorce settlement, I can do it in some comfort (necessary because I'm disabled. So I'm doing it while I can. That may stop really soon.

Not COVID, the other extremely shitty thing that happened since but I've stopped drawing
