What's the most money you've ever spent on a gacha type game?

Do you regret it?

Zero.

I had to look up what a gacha game was lol

Probably $800-900 or so over the life of the game, and no, I don't regret it, because I played the game and had fun with it for a few years running. To me it's no different than spending money on concerts or amusement park tickets or going out to eat. It was money spent on entertainment and it fulfilled that purpose.

Thanks for pointing it out like this. I've been chewing my cheek thinking that I should feel guilty for spending so much money on a game but when people spent $2k plus to see Taylor Swift or some such concert, it feels like a better investment.

Yeah, for me, I'd rather spend the money on something I'll be able to enjoy for more than just a couple of hours. Sure, I know that all gacha have a finite lifespan and that eventually the pretty pixels I spent money on will disappear, but if I get to enjoy having them for a few years then to me it's more worth it than spending $80 on a dinner that I'll spend maybe 30 minutes eating and then it's gone.

I used to be addicted to Gaia when I was in college and I would spend roughly a hundred dollars when a new RIG came out. I don't spend money on games anymore except for things like 'no ads ever' or 'speed up time' for like $3-$5 a pop

Oh, easily thousands. Over the course of the nearly 9-year run of my fav game, I wouldn't be surprised if I'd spent 10k. It saw me through a lot of shit. I miss it. Sure, I spent a lot of money on it, but I budgeted and spent only what I could afford.

The math works out to about 93 dollars a month on it. That's not crazy for a major hobby.

Not a gacha game but I did play a p2w type competitive MMO game for a while. Probably spent $2-3k on it... but that was over a course of like 3 years where I played it daily for hours, ran a top guild, was a top 50 global player, and all that jazz. So time per money spent it wasn't too bad, especially when considering it was my main hobby so I wasn't spending hobby money anywhere else.

Ofc there were other players (confirmed wealthy retired boomers with yachts and summer mansions, no joke) in the game that spent literal $100ks in the same amount of time... to do not much better than me. And I was surrounded by people bragging about their jobs dropping multiple $10ks to my <1 per year (basic monthly $15 sub and 1 pack per event) to do worse than me. Their tears were part of the fun ngl.

Do I regret it? Leaning no. I wouldn't do it again after having done it once, but once was worth the experience. It was enough to learn the experience would be the same next time anyway and lose the novelty value.

In one go...Probably ~C$30. Overall on that game, probably...$1000 or so over the course of about 4 years.

And, nah. Some specific smaller spends to gain pulls when I just had one or two things left and they didn't drop, sure, but overall spending on the app and the handful of big spends (on specific, not random, items) I did, nah.

Money, none.

Time, probably too much.

None. But I have spent chunks of money on Flight Rising at various points.

Zero dollars. That kind of game holds no appeal to me. I don't like gambling; I bounce the second something I'm playing introduces paid lootboxes that have any meaningful impact on gameplay (i.e., aren't just skins). I did spend about $10 on a voice pack for my favourite fps one time, though.

Not a true gacha game but I’ve been playing a mobile rpg for nearly 5 years and have spent close to $6000 on it. It’s the primary entertainment expense for our household; we don’t have cable, don’t include internet in that budget, and don’t go anywhere or do anything. We do have two streaming services but combined they cost less per month than what I usually spend on my game.

Every cent has been worth it for me. I’ve spent untold hours playing and love the connections I’ve made in the community spaces for it. I’m playing less the last week or two and think my time on the game is drawing to a close but I wouldn’t trade the time or money I’ve put into it for any other entertainment.

I think like 5 bucks max. I have people with addictions in my family so I am careful with all this

In one sitting, $700. Over the course of a game's life? God, I think I've spent at least 4k on Genshin, and almost certainly more in my old favorite game that's now dead. I absolutely don't regret it, because I don't panic buy, and also with how much enjoyment I get from the games I don't feel bad about throwing money at them sometimes. It's no different than a stupid fancy meal to me. Can't experience it forever, but you sure did spend $100 on that steak dinner.

I doubt Pikmin Bloom counts as a real gacha game, but I've spent ~50$ in the last 3 years. Maybe that's a lot, but I've played it almost every day for 3 years and those developers deserve to get paid something. Also, I managed to get all the beach pikmin on my one beach vacation. Only took 20$ of extra detectors.

In general, once I realize I have to pay to keep playing I lose interest.

About €200 I think. I don't because I could afford it, I'm careful about spending money in general and I enjoyed playing the game for a few years.
