Honestly, I'm surprised this hasn't already gone mainstream. (And yes, I am also hearing about this for the first time.)

Fascinating. It still seems fairly low key, as I haven't seen it in the 1440 newsletter or Snopes coming in to clarify the details/context. Those instances to me signify that a story has really hit the mainstream.
