What have you always thought sounded fun or interesting and tried watching/reading/etc but just couldn't seem to get into?

For me its Discworld. It seems so fun! But unfortunately I just don't vibe with Pratchett's writing :(

Jupiter Ascending. And the problem literally was lack of chemistry - I've liked Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum in other things but they were awful together.

I hate when on paper I am into a pairing but then you see them in action and the chemistry just isn't there.

I couldn't find that movie more than fun to watch once, and the reason is entirely that I find Channing Tatum ugly. If not for that, it would be one of my favorite movies.

I feel bad because I don't have anything against him as an actor in general, but him playing what was specifically designed to be a hot character in a sexy romance was too dissonant.

I've tried watching Wakanda Forever many times, but I've never gotten more than half an hour in before being distracted by something else. It just doesn't hold my interest.

I can't get past the prank call opening on Star Wars The Last Jedi. I dunno what the rest of the movie is like because that opening is just so fucking dumb I cannot move past it.

I could not for the life of me figure out what you were referring to so I had to do a search. Took me a minute but I found it. It obviously left a much bigger impact on you than it did me XD

I'd swear to god that I've seen this movie but I just rewatched the scene and have no memory of it. Is that... is that real, or a BTS joke?

Fantasy unfortunately. I enjoy movies and shows well enough but cannot get into fantasy literature. I tried GoT three different ways, never felt the urge to read Harry Potter, and while I enjoyed the first Rivers of London, never felt the need to read the rest.

I've tried multiple times to get into Stardew Valley and just get bored. Same with Pokemon games. I cannot stand how you have to fight everyone.

as an old fart I always wanted to try D&D but y'know, satanic panic forbids it, so now I'm old enough and have gamer friends and...yeah, just couldn't see what the hype was about. I could not for the life of me enjoy it.

I have always wanted to try it but I secretly feel/fear that I would end up the same way, just nit really getting it

Aw, sorry to hear that, Anon. Probably doesn’t help that the D&D experience is HEAVILY dependent on your DM and the group you’re playing with. If you don’t click with the DM’s style or the people in the group, it wouldn’t be much of an experience.

I'm addicted to the internet enough as it is, that's my problem! Although D&D might actually give me one channel instead of a million...

I apparently made the mistake of starting with The Colour of Magic because yeah, I just abandoned it and didn't really want to try again.

For me: I know it's one of those things where it's almost cool to be contrarian and hate on it for being popular, but believe me on paper Rick and Morty sounded like it would be up my street but Rick and his constant drool/vomiting meant I just couldn't continue. Also I just didn't find it as funny overall as I was led to believe.

Oh man big same-- I heard 'Back to the Future fan created a messed up animated parody/pastiche/homage' and I was excited, turns out I hated EVERYTHING about it, and I don't know about Roiland but Harmon at least has some pretty insufferable takes on the franchise that inspired them in the first place.

Early Pratchett isn't really the same as his later work. I never recommend people to start at the beginning, tbh.

I was lucky enough to start with Guards, Guards with Pritchett, and although I did go back and read Colour of Magic later, I have never reread it.

Anything Star Wars outside of the movies. I've tried to watch some of the shows over the years and I don't know what it is but I get bored stiff whenever I've tried and this isn't me trying to just watch the new stuff, my gf tried to get me to watch The Clone Wars yonks ago and I shit you not in like 5 mins I was on my phone looking at other things because it could not hold my attention.

I think the universe is a fun sandbox for story ideas but something about it just bores the snot out of me.

Farscape. I love scifi that is mixed with fantasy. And I don't even mind weird effects/looks. I love Doctor Who. But Farscape just doesn't work for me. Maybe just none of the characters really grabbed me? I don't know.

I always feel rather guiltily glad when I hear someone else say that they could never get into Prachett or Discworld. He seemed like a great guy, and so SO many people love the series so much, but I just can’t get into it at all. It’s always a bit of a relief to hear I’m
not the only one that doesn’t vibe with it.

Discworld for me, too. I've succeeded in finishing exactly one of them - Wyrd Sisters. Made good progress on Last Continent, but couldn't finish. Barely got through the first chapter of Mort, never managed even that for Monstrous Regiment.

D&D movie. I can't get more than 30 minutes in before I'm bored out of my skull.

Avatar the Last Airbender. On paper and from everything I know about it, that should have been my show but I just never clicked with it.

The Zoro/Sanji ship on One Piece. Again, it hits all the right notes for on paper, but I just don't care at all unless it's with a gender bent Zoro, because then it's interesting to me because of Sanji's issues with women and Zoro's issue with being the best. But aside from that, just give me all the platonic fic about them, now THAT'S my jam.

Same with Pratchett. Also Ursula K LeGuin and Octavia Butler's novels. I love their short stories, and I love the concepts of the novels I've read, but I got bored with all of them quickly.

Percy Jackson. I regret that I didn't read it when I was much younger, because maybe I would have loved it as much as everyone else.
