That’s infuriating! We went through similar with my mother and it made my blood boil. You will never see the world the same way again.
We bought a portable ramp from Amazon. It was a very basic folding one and the only negative about it was that I’d have to either run it back and forth from the car or set it up, let her go onto the curb, then put the ramp away and go park. Life would have been so much easier and felt more welcoming for her if we hadn’t needed to do that. I think something most able bodied people don’t really understand is how hostile the world can feel when simple accessibility features are absent or totally impractical.
