No, what happened is that people let perfect be the enemy of "vote like you might die." We're in an era of the left tearing itself apart over moral purity an vibes meaning more than action, and all this "both sides bad" bullshit is patting yourself on the back for not doing fucking anything while crying about how Russian Asset Jill fucking Stein isn't liked more.

The Democrats haven't had a fucking supermajority in over a decade, and thus can barely pass anything. Congrats, Reagan's groundwork has borne fruit--and you're gobbling it up like the pig prepped for slaughter he wanted you to be.
