Harris came in showing that she was ready and willing to do the job.

And you really said... "HOW DARE YOU?" Really?

Do you go into every battle acting like you are going to lose? How does that make sense? The attitude is what carries you through in any fight. You don't pretend you're going to lose unless you have some sneaky, underhanded shit planned for when the winner is declared.

Like, imagine if you were applying for a job and got called in for an interview. And instead of saying "I've read up on this company/I am ready to present ideas that support the company's vision/I will do my part in continuing to make this company successful/etc," you said, "Oh my god, I'm trash and you shouldn't hire me/I'm such a loser I couldn't even be bothered to research your company/Boohoo woe is me," Well, unless it's for a reverse psychology company, I'd be shocked if that strategy worked.

And... I'm not even sure what your complaint is here. Do you think Democrats feel... entitled to something? I suppose that's possible, but have the American people looked at themselves? Because we're not any better. Hell, we might be worse. The Democrats offer us things, but somehow it's never enough. I'm not talking about basic rights and affordable goods and housing, of course. I mean we want a magic wand waved and all our problems gone forever, all the problems that are consistently caused by Republicans. We are a very instant gratification people, and don't want to work for our democracy. We don't want to come back to make sure it's still functional.

People whine that Obama didn't do shit?

Did they come back in 2010 during the midterms, to help retain a Democratic Congress that would have helped him carry out his promises?

Or did they wait until 2012 because they thought only the big years matter?

Did they think about it and show up to midterms in 2014 to turn around the dwindling numbers of Democrats in office? (For the record, I fucked up this year for personal reasons, so I'll take my share of the blame.)

Do they vote for the top office and ignore the rest of the ballot?

And nevermind Federal elections. Do they ever bother with their own state runoffs and local elections?

I bet these are the same people who complain that weirdos are banning books and making the kids dumber at school and censoring everything, but they can't seem to understand why. Well, it's a mystery. It must be the Democrats' fault.

We barely know how our own government works, we don't get that there are three branches of government with checks and balances. That means the damn President can't just do whatever she wants, she needs Congress to agree with her. Also, Congress can't just pass whatever legislation they feel like without Presidential approval (although this can change with a supermajority). And so on. But the powers have been falling out of balance for a while now. We have a Conservative Court, and the election results show an onboarding Republican President with a Republican Congress. Yeah, I guess the Democrats could've done more. But did you do what you could to ensure they were in a position to do so?

We the people need to get the fuck over ourselves and start showing up for each other. Your LGBTQ siblings, your minority buddies, your disabled family member, your daughters and nieces. JFC, this was not a hard choice.

I don't fully blame American voters though. Citizens United is the worst culprit here. Corporations pouring their money into Super PACs, giving Republicans a wide edge over everything. Democrats tend to do things that are more for the people (yes, yes, I know, not all), so it's not surprising they don't have the advantage. And I don't think it was an accident that the SC decision happened the year after Obama was sworn in.
