Eh, I think the people who like it are acting just as performative, if not more.
The arguments of why it's allegedly a great show reads basically all just as "sticking it to the purists/evil bigots who don't like the show" with barely any actual real reasons why they like it apart from "because people I don't like dislike it" and this just makes any praise and any arguments in favour of the show seem, yes, performative and disingenuous.
Especially when they also try really hard to invalidate any criticism by devaluing the character of anyone who doesn't like the instead of bringing up any valid arguments why that criticism is wrong in their eyes.

People can have a lot of reasons for disliking something, and sometimes a lot of people dislike something for the same narrative/production reasons. Also, performatrive stanning is alive and well online in most fandom spaces.
