I'm not sure I can keep telling myself "Its the propaganda, Its the brainwashing, Its media programming, Its mass hysteria, Its weird parasocial relationships with celebrities and politicians, Its just grief / loss at having their values rejected, Its immaturity." anymore.

I KNOW its all of that. For both sides frankly. But I don't know if I can keep telling myself its JUST that. I'm seeing people be GLEEFULLY and PERSONALLY inhuman to other people, and then going on the internet to tell people what GOOD people they are for what they ADMIT is pure hatred and dehumanisation and a JOY at the prospect of seeing formerly loved ones and family DIE.

This hasn't been DONE TO them. I think I'm reaching the stage of misanthropy where I just accept that the same hardware that had us wipe out the neanderthal is, has, and always will be what drives people. That as a species all we want is a person to love and a people to hate. That the hardware isn't changing, and the only change we want in the software is more righteous language to make us /feel/ like we're doing virtuous and moral things by deeming a chunk of people deserving of our ape-brained bloody vengeance.

"Yeah, well you started the hate by disagreeing with me and believing all the things the TV people tell me you believe, and I know it's true, because I see the secret messages you interweave in your comments that SHOW me and only me that you're ACTUALLY an inhuman who believes everything I suspect you of believing, so I'm going to make the world a good and noble place by feeding your heart to swine!" Everyone posting anything political is exaggerated and performing and posturing to some degree, no matter how literally, LITERALLY, SWEAR TO GOD TRUE the person posting it claims it is.

For the most part I 100% agree with you, but there is this one thing...a thing I saw in real life. I witnessed this in real fucking life between 2 people I know, who I KNOW are smarter than this, and more than that I know are COMPLETELY UNAFFECTED by the thing they were pretending to be so passionate about. It was an excuse. It was "I just really want someone I can hurt and feel like I've done a good thing".

But I guess you're right. It's definitely spilling out FROM the internet... Only before we had the internet, it was happening over the TV, before that books. It's 100% too much internet, but maybe it's too much people as well.

To be clear here, I'm not saying humanity is great. But people get stupid when they get to be loud for points. And loud people are the ones you end up noticing because they drown out everyone else.

Lol, yeah. My half brother turned uber right wing and I cut him out of my life.

Years later he and his wife made sure to call my 14yo and 11yo niece lying whores because my OTHER brother molested them (he went to prison for that). When that brother got out of prison, they made sure to move him into their house (where they have a young daughter).

He also recently (I heard from other family members) got a weird penis infection after a trip to Asia.

So, nothing of value was lost from cutting a toxic person who wants people like me to die (and votes accordingly) out of my life.

Anyone is allowed to drop anyone from their lives over whatever they want, tbh. (Obviously besides people you have a legal obligation to like minor children if you're a parent)

I don't know why the voting thing is somehow an exception and so many people are offended that random people they don't know would rather not talk to their family any more. It's fine to dislike your family.

our only hope is that people will see the error in their ways, accept that they've made mistakes (and the discomfort that goes with it) and learn from those mistakes rather than double down into their fantasy worlds where facts can't reach them.

also if you've been trolling as anon or posting trolly secrets (like secret #3 above), then you probably shouldn't be surprised if you get extremely negative responses and further create a toxic environment. so if you've been doing that then you should stop and find other things to do.

Some people do enjoy being awful to other people, it's true. And that's why we shouldn't put them in charge of important things, or normalize their shitty behavior.

Granted, with generational trauma and broken systems (or some would argue, "working as intended" systems) in place, it gets harder to do that. But there are also always people willing to push back against this behavior.

The genuinely shitty people are in a minority. Yes, humans in general are capable of both good and bad behavior, and the propaganda and lies can inspire the worst in us. Anticipating threats can also do the same. That's something we have to make peace with, something we have to be smarter about and recognize when it's happening. Check each other and check ourselves. And realize who the real enemy is (sometimes it's no one, other times it's the fucker who stands to benefit from people butting heads).

I don't believe people "want" to hate. A person is not born hating others. They tend to pick it up from somewhere in their life.

No, you're not getting what I'm saying, Its ALL people. Its you, me, its the most admirable person you can imagine, and its the fact that this most admirable person is likely only seen as such because either you don't know who he hates or more likely because he hates the right people.

Those people willing to "Push back", heres the big nasty secret - only no-one bothers to keep it a secret, the thing that drives them, that keeps them "fighting the good fight" is how much they hate the PEOPLE on the otherside. How intolerable they would find it to see the other people thrive. MAYBE they start with noble ideas, although I dont even know if I believe that anymore... Maybe the nobel ideas are just a a very well made excuse.

You alluded to POSIWID, well, I ask you, what do YOU see the human sense of morality do more than anything else? Do you see people sacrificing themselves for their morals? Or do you see people that you either recognise as being misguided by them, or ADMIRE because you see them guided by their morals to FIGHT and overcome some "Evil" or "Callous" or "Morally wrong" person?

The purpose of a thing is what it does. And humans act more on hate than anything else. And despite what the song below says, No, you don't have to be taught to hate the same as you don't have to be taught to love. The first day in your life where you meet a person who has something you dont think he deserves to have, and you imagine how rewarding it would be to take it from him and how good it would feel to see him crying over the lost, you feel the thrill of hate and its part of you now. You have to be taught to openly hate the "right" people for the right reasons and which hates you need to ignore or keep hidden.

I've slept on this to see if its just the depression talking, but its not.

I'm being facetious, there are hobbies I can do on my own or with my fiancee and I dont need to think about people, but eventually I have to go back to be around other people, and then I see this all over again.

Eh I don't wish death or harm on anyone, but if someone suffers the consequences of the thing they explicitly chose (e.g., by voting for a politician who openly stated he or she was going to do the thing) I cannot feel any sympathy for them.

That said, there is a great deal of false equivalence when someone who supports and selects something that would see one of their family members directly harmed (medically maimed, deported, loss of civil rights, etc.) claims that because that family member chooses to no longer attend their family dinners or answer their texts, they have somehow been equivalently harmed (or worse).

They, objectively, have not, and freedom of association is more than enough justification to civilly discontinue the company of someone who actively wishes you harm.

If someone voted for Trump because of the economy (while not knowing what a tariff is and that it'll make things MORE expensive), knowing it'll make people in their lives hate them and want to die or have to run, then quite frankly, I have no sympathy when the leopards they voted for eat their faces when everyone remotely actually read up told them the leopards will eat their faces.

I think it started as a variation on the redpill thing, but across a few spaces has just become shorthand for "Allowing myself to yield to a depressing realisation".
