Weekend Plans!

What is everyone doing this weekend?

I'm at home this weekend and over my illness. I got a good chunk of the balloon dog I am creating done but this week, I'll need to at least get two more limbs done. Other than that, video games with my sister. We are trying to play more Lethal Company.

Waiting for my COVID cough to fully disappear and recovering from an inflamed ear. I got Ventolin, Flonase, and antibiotic ear drops. I'm a walking pharmacy this weekend. ;)

Yard work! Gotta finally winterize the yard and shed. Nothing huge, just clean up basically.

I am pretty deep in a Depressive phase so also trying to combat that. I did get my act together enough to apply to the ACA for health insurance so fingers crossed for mental health meds in the new year!

Resting. Discovered on Thursday that I have fibroids and I'm not allowed to do anything too strenuous so I'm currently curled up with a hot pack and my cat.

It'll be busy! Lots of last minute tasks at work and volunteering (neither of which I usually do over weekends), then cleaning the house before Thanksgiving and getting everything ready for visits. Hoping to carve time out for a little bit of "me" time but that might just take the form of audiobooks while wrapping presents.

Game morning as usual. Then seeing my friend over Chinese food and going for a movie.
I want to visit my friend at a festival, they are an artist selling their stuff there. Also thinking about what exhibition I want to see. One relates to my job but we don't get free passes. I am absolutely bummed about it. But I love this gallery though and it's in a really pretty part of the city. Or going to couple of others. But they are way to close to my ex job I am sort of traumatized about lol.
I need to include sleep somewhere too because my sleep schedule was fucked up this week argh

Do you have any fandoms where you don't actively ship anything or even where you don't like any ships at all?

There are a couple of fandoms where I don't seek out any ships like Leverage or The Walking Dead. And there are some fandoms where I have bookmarked more Gen than ship fics like Avatar the Last Airbender, Batman, and Mob Psycho 100.

I like Peter and El's marriage in the show so I suppose you could count that as shipping, but I don't like any of Neal's relationships and don't ship him or anyone else on the show. Just let me have fun case stories!

Criminal Minds would be the big one for me. I'm cool with JJ/Will in canon, but I don't actively ship. And any time I read fics, it is only gen. I just love the team doing their thing. I don't ship any of them with each other.

Actually, this is probably true in general for me for most crime or mystery shows. 911 and 911 Lone Star seem to be the only big exception right now.

Just about all of them, honestly. I haven't read/written fanfic actively for a couple decades now. While I treasure that time and the friends I made (still friends with some of them today!), those were different times. Fandom is less appealing to me now, for many reasons. It's also a lot harder after the migration away from livejournal, IMO.

My involvement now is watching the media, enjoying tumblr gifsets, occasionally reading discussions on reddit, looking at art and that's it.

Most of them. I have very few ships compared to the number of fandoms I’m in.

Most fandoms I'm in I don't tend to strongly ship a lot of things. When I do, it's mostly OC/Canon so I can make as much or as little as I want for that.

I also personally think there's a difference between enjoying the chemistry between 2 characters and "shipping"-shipping them, you know? I love the chemistry between Ford and Sophie in Leverage, but I'm not a *shipper* like I am with Sam/Jack in SG1 or Reese/Finch in Person of Interest.

Fandom Documentaries

Do you have any favorite documentaries about fandom or fannish activities? I have an interest in documentary film (analyzing the production, POV and relationship to the subject matter) as well as an interest in all things fandom obviously, so I would love recs if you have them. Fan-made projects are cool too, doesn't have to be professionally produced.

What media did you love but just not get into the fanfic for?

AO3 frustration

(Please do not consider this as an attack on AO3) But AO3 not having overarching/main tag is such a bullshit. Right now I am in a fandom there this is a big problem. We have fics redirected on a barely related tag because they can't have one tag for us due to the fandom being mix of RPF and fiction. 🤦🤦

Tbf I have been in and out in fandoms that get sorted in absolute deranged ways for years.
