I don't research authors. Don't usually follow them on social media - there are very few exceptions that usually have to do with me liking a small author's work and having no other way to get alerted when they have a new book out.

Apart from their names (because I might want to read more of their works), I do not care. I'm here for their work and nothing else. MAYBE their pets.

(Obviously if there is a big controversy about something, I do usually see it and depending on what it's about, I'll stay away.)

Yes, I read diverse. No, I usually don't know what boxes the author ticks off before I buy a book and I barely remember after when someone asks. (Might subscribe to their newsletter though if they have one and I want to read more by them)
