I dislike both versions of this show for similar reasons... don't like secondhand embarrassment and humiliation humor, unlikeable characters being mean to one another... it's just not entertaining for me.

It's so MEAN, like I could never watch either version but the US version is so inescapable that it makes me hate the guy who plays Jim whenever I see him do anything.

It is so interesting to me that so many people can't watch this due to secondhand embarrassment, because hoo boy do I understand that issue but I personally don't feel that at all with this show. Love stuff like this where it's the same squick feelings but in different situations.

I just think people should be allowed to say "honey it's not my thing, sorry" and watch stuff separately. With earphones or something.

I wouldn't watch Parks and Rec again for the same reason. I didn't hate the show but I hated how they bullied Gary and that was supposed to be funny.

I think Wicked is one of those things that is aimed at a particular audience and most people outside of it just aren’t going to see why it’s the phenomenon it has been for the last few decades.

Also, agree about Ariana Grande.

This reads as if the Valeyard is a future incarnation of the Doctor instead of an "amalgamation of the darker sides of your nature" lifted somehow out of the middle of a future regeneration process. By whom? The Time Lord High Council who set up the Trial? The Master (or how else does he know all about it)? Both? A third party? Some freak accident? It wasn't said - but what was said is he's an outside, tangential phenomenon and a separate being, like the metacrisis Doctor, instead of a proper incarnation of the Doctor. If you want to argue that the Master is an unreliable source then you must account for that the Valeyard found himself unable to deny what the Master said; until or unless there's more information Occam's razor is set against you.

Yes, the Doctor has darker impulses, but the Valeyard will happen when they're separated out, not from when he Finally Gives In to them.
