(Anonymous) 2024-12-18 02:59 am (UTC)(link)Hell I have a friend who despised BOTH Fantasy and Scifi because he doesn't like unrealistic things. He actually feels repulsed by them because of the unrealistic aspects (suspension of disbelief) . He only likes franchises with more grounded/realistic settings : Dexter, brooklyn 99, Grand Theft Auto, Max Payne and Hitman

(Anonymous) 2024-12-18 03:14 am (UTC)(link)I hate Anime as a whole. The animation generally makes me uncomfortable and I generally really dislike the artstyles. Also not a fan of the high pitched voices of most of the female characters (it's not cute at all) or fanservice . I find what anime considers to be cute (weak submissive females that act like children) to be annoying.
Also doesn't help at all that I had some really bad experiences with hardcore anime fans/weeaboos in the past

(Anonymous) 2024-12-19 12:35 am (UTC)(link)Nah, I get this secret, because I'm hugely biased against crossovers, too. Yes, the entire genre.
I've been reading fanfic for decades, and I can think of maybe ... three crossovers in that entire time that didn't make me go "why am I doing this to myself?" and backbutton out after a few chapters in utter exasperation.
It's like when someone believes they can multi-task, but from the point of view of another person, they're just managing to screw up both tasks badly. I get that other people apparently find this sort of fic deeply enjoyable (and more power to them, truly), but to me, it's a heartfelt source of Does Not Want.
