I found that one pretty funny because listening to his description of sand made me think he was unintentionally describing himself and the reasons why Padmé shouldn't like him. He's a lot like sand, when you think about it. (lol)

I kinda agree with this secret (minus the "I judge you" bit), hypocritical as that is.

I completely agree. I was really disappointed at the way Anakin was portrayed in AotC, such a selfish, petulant, arrogant control-freak, but I was frightened at how he was portrayed in RotS and the fact that she still loved him after what he did to her. Never mind that she sold herself way short marrying such a nutjob, she deserved a loving, caring relationship and she got the exact opposite, and from the moment they confessed their feelings to each other it was always going to be that way: destructive.

It sickens me as a portrayal of a 'timeless' or 'classic' relationship, frankly.

Well, I ship it since I was 14 and I can say that it doesn't affect my personality, the way I see - and live - relationships or any other aspect of my life, LOL. Obviously I can not disagree, it was a destructive relationship. But not from the very beginning, IMO. It was a desconstruction proccess through three damn movies and I cried like a baby when Anakin reached the point of no return.

I am not that into Star Wars, but (I think) I can understand the shippers. I think they view it more as a tragic tale than anything else. Anakin seemed to truly love Padma until he went to "the dark side".

I think it's a little less than the rabid fans and more of the writers wondering how they were going to milk it for all it's worth while telling the story of Vader's "pain".

Instead, they got an emofest mess. Then again, I blocked out most of RotS that wasn't involved with Ewan McGregor. Mmmm, Ewan....

I always thought their relationship was creepy.

She meets him when he's a kid.
Then he continues to be creepy.
Then he's abusive creepy.

Anakin was destined to be Darth Vader so I never put much thought into it. But I never felt like they loved each other.

(I shipped Obi-wan/Padme for a while there. Secretly sneaking around behind Anakin's back... I thought it made sense within the context of the movie. Anakin feels betrayed by the two people who are suppose to love him most. I guess I'm an glutton for angst.)

I dunno, I mean, yeah, they're kind of shady and disturbing, but there are FAR worse couples who are written a lot better/are more popular. Somehow, terrible writing never offends me (I mean, aside from its terribleness). I'm too busy laughing/crying at "you're BREAKING MY HEART!!" to be mad that he choked her and shit.

Ugh, seriously. Maybe not so much with regard to the shippers since I don't actually know any personally, but oh my God, that relationship, just... ughghgh.

I don't think I'll ever get over how the prequels completely changed the way I feel about Darth Vader (especially you, Episodes 2 & 3). Before I used to find his moral ambiguity and implied fall from grace exciting and intriguing; now I'm just saddened by his selfishness and the fact that I no longer have any respect for the character.

Yes, Padme is a whiny, completely stupid bitch that falls for Annie and still loves him despite him "killing" her (she died as he turned into Vader, if I recall) and Annie is an insane, immature idiot that thinks that people can live forever, but it's canon, and important canon at that. If I didn't ship them then... uh, how the hell would 4, 5, and 6 technically exist?

Note, I like 4, 5, and 6 better (six is my favorite), I just don't understand why people hate this pairing so much when it's essential to the story. =/ I mean yeah I can ship Obi-Wan and Annie all day long, but Annie ended up with Padme and she was a dumb ass for still thinking he was awesome. Deal.

And makes me love Leia and Han so much more. (Srsly, how did Padme and Anakin manage to have such a kick ass daughter? Luke was rough around the edges and grew to be better than Dad, but Leia was always awesome.)

Well, I think the whole point of that scene was to show just how far down the dark path Anakin had gone.

I figure that, since the vast majority of their romance was going on off-camera, they must have been doing okay for themselves. (That is, after he grew out of his Ep 2 jerk phase and before he let his fear of abandonment in Ep 3 push him over the edge.)

I mean, come on!
In AotC, he commits his first genocide/infanticide and admits it to her. He tells her he just killed babies, and her reaction basically is, "Poor misunderstood Ani! Let's get married." If this doesn't show her what to expect from such a man, I don't know what would. And that's years before he becomes a Sith.
Her silence protects him and enables him. That makes her complicit in all his mass-murders that follow. She doesn't even object, when he claims that killing the Tusken Raider babies was justified, "I slaughtered them like animals, because they are animals" or something like that (can't remember the direct quote). She had it coming her way.
The sheer idea to have children with a man, whom she knows to have killed babies in a fit of rage, is totally beyond me.

Really. She had every opportunity to get the heck out of it, but she chose to be his little puppet. She, more than any other person, had the power to stop him. She's not a victim here; she betrayed every last bit of human decency she ever possessed to him. If she really loved him, she would have stopped him.

I hate the Prequels... they killed the Original Trilogy for me. I can't watch RotJ without boiling with rage over Vader's Redemption. There are some crimes so horrible that they cannot ever be redeemed, IMO, and infanticide is one of them.

I really dislike that ship, but the "I JUDGE YOU!!1" part bugs me. Just because they enjoy a dysfunctional fictional relationship doesn't have anything to do with what they would think of an abusive relationship in real life.
