I personally could never imagine doing such a thing, but it's actually very common for a person to marry/fall in love with a family member/close friend of their deceased beloved.

The older I get, the more I understand it. Again, personally don't think I could ever, but I understand that people grow close during sad and stressful times. Also, historically speaking, there have been customs for a man to wed his brother's widow. Didn't know it was in the Bible, but in my South East Asian community, back in the old days if a woman became a widow it was expected for her husband's family to marry her off to a brother not yet wed or even to be a second wife.

The movie was good. I tend to have really mixed feelings about Studio Ghibli films, but I never regret watching them.
