Insisting something isn't canon just because you personally don't like it is obnoxious. Hate Discovery all you want, it isn't particularly good. But it is canon. And there are people who like it.

DA

That's a very vehement take. If some random person on the internet told me that some series I like isn't canon I'd be like okay sure, you think your thoughts, whatever. Not tell them they're being horrible.

You may be a little too invested in this

That wasn't me and frankly I think they're with me in that they're just... Sick of the hate Discovery gets? Because something completely unrelated is being talked about and its haters will shoehorn it into the convo half the time to the point of obnoxiousness.

So they're not you, you're just the better person who called someone awful for this secret then hoped the same back on them?

ayrt - I guess I just don't see someone saying something isn't canon as a major insult or obnoxious. I also didn't understand that this secret saying something wasn't canon was just OP, I thought they literally meant the show had a throwaway line or something that did that.

Thanks for answering though.

That's what I thought, too.

I'm not a Trekkie, my Treks are TNG and Voy(kinda), so what was the de-canonizing of Disco? I'm curious.

Also, congrats to the canonizing of BashirXGarak!

DA I’ve been hearing about this for like a week or two. My understanding, and google seems to confirm it, is that in a single universe setting, Discovery is decanonized. But it’s possible that we’re only seeing part of a multiverse and Star Trek does have a history of using multiverses. So basically anyone can say it’s canon and be correct and anyone can say it isn’t canon and be correct.

I suspect this was intentional because canceling it would have caused a shitstorm but it’s an objectively bad series with poor reviews and even worse viewing figures. I’m not really sure how they can sever Discovery without severing SNW though. I know when SNW has been brought on FS before people hated it but it’s done well with critics and very well with audiences.
