That one is somehow better than all the shitheel evangelicals buying private jets

In my experience, yes. Where I am, the Catholic church is not the one trying to get legislation passed that takes away women's rights and gay rights. I'm not saying they're perfect or even good, but they're not as extremely far-right and insane as the evangelical churches.

As an ex catholic, there's really not as much of a difference as you're suggesting. Perhaps that is the case where you are, but the catholic church has a dark history and strong far-right contingent. Tradcaths are quite often far right and insane IME.

Oh, tradcaths are stupid and crazy.

They are where I am! So are the evangelicals, and some of the bigger Anglican dioceses too. And of course they sell off old churches and projects to pay their legal bills for decades of molesting children, but they use parishioner donations for that too.

Aren't Catholics the ones spearheading the idea that god hates abortions, and it would just be GREAT if women had to carry every fetus to term? Because I thought that's expressly what they teamed up with the other nuts over - singling out and persecuting women.

Not in the US, which is what I think AYRT was talking about. Not actually that many Catholics in high legislative positions. And while I'm not sure about the Church's official position on this, Catholics in my experience tend to believe in truly being pro-life and therefore in making exceptions for abortion if the pregnancy will be fatal to the baby and/or parent.

However, they are also the ones behind most of those "crisis pregnancy centers" that pose themselves as giving advice and assistance for unplanned pregnancies but their main objective is to convince you not to get an abortion.

Nope, the official Catholic hospital position is to specifically forbid this exception. You're meant to hope for a miracle. If the fetus dies, only then can you remove it. This is also why they're opposed to assisted dying - you're meant to suffer and not lose hope in a miracle/God.

Once at a catholic hospital the doctor started interrogating me about whether I was one hundred percent certain I wasn't pregnant before giving me an x-ray. When I said I was not pregnant he started badgering me asking me if I was SURE and if there was ZERO CHANCE and if I was willing to risk his job to get my x-ray, to humiliate me for not being celibate as an unmarried woman. They asked for my sexual history during the intake and were visibly disgusted when I said I had plenty of premarital sex. Plus the doctor insulted and demeaned me for having had a breast reduction. Never going to a catholic hospital again unless there's truly no other options.
