I am loving this new trend of themed red carpet outfits. I know it's probably a pain for the actors having to dress a certain way in all their publicity appearances. And it's yet another example of increasingly expansive promotional campaigns. But I appreciate anything that makes red carpet fashion a bit more interesting. Actual variations on a theme, not just unexciting dresses in this season's colors and silhouettes. Now I just need them to do it for a fandom I'm actually excited about.

I’m an atheist and think most organized religions are toxic. My extended family was traditionally Catholic, but no one my age or younger still practices.

SECRET: Watching the freaky, culty Catholic rituals and backstabbing drama in CONCLAVE made me want to drop by a cathedral and attend services.

When I first watched it, I found this scene shocking, upsetting...and also completely in character. Despite being a big Spike fan, a thing like this happening felt almost inevitable, given their issues.

But my fandom friends insisted it was bad writing: horribly OOC, a gratuitous shock, to be ignored. And I thought they must know better than I did.

Finally coming back to it as an adult, I'm back to my first take. I don't know if that's controversial these days. And I don't care anymore. But I am still a bit embarrassed at how easily I let myself by swayed by fandom consensus.

I admit to being a little bit of a snob about Catholicism. I no longer practice either, but at least the church has lasting traditions and when they get donations it's used for churches and projects and not buying some Millennial guitar church pastor three SUVs and a McMansion.

What is everyone doing this weekend?

It is about to get super cold here in OK so I'll be inside most days. I finished my first story of the year (Camp Damascus, highly recommend), so I'll be taking a break from reading. Will probably play a ton of Fortnite because Godzilla is out. Otherwise, trying to learn how make GIFs using Gimp.
