I've seen recipes with ketchup noodles, though the ketchup is joined by a lot of other ingredients that offset the ketchup.

Ketchup as a base sauce for spaghetti doesn't appeal to me at all, but since it is tomato based, I could see it being a substitute when one runs out of pasta sauce. (Though I make no assumptions about its application here or any seasoning that may or may not be added.)

I've heard it called "Irish spaghetti" or "poor man's pasta" - it was cheaper for big families to use ketchup than buy actual sauce. I grew up in a big Irish Catholic family and we had tomato sauce maybe once or twice a year, but pasta with ketchup was a regular growing up. It's not a comfort food I crave like once every five years or so.

It's actually a very common dish in Japan! They call it "Napolitan" there.
