Isn’t that age range like half of internet users?

Depends on what you mean by 'internet users' since that's very broad. Gen Z and younger are way more terminally socially online than anyone else in sheer numbers, and lots of Gen X is technically online but not in a fandomy or 'regular online community' sense.

I know a bunch of Gen X people in my fandom, but I can also name a bunch of Gen X coworkers who genuinely have never had an argument online with a stranger because they just don't use internet that way. Whereas with Millennial and on, if you haven't done that, you're the outlier.

For global internet users over 18, it's about 41.3%, add 65+ and you get to 45.5% (according to https://www.statista.com). If you add under 18, that will go down significantly given that 0-18 is over a quarter of the world population (not everybody will be online, but a good portion will have some access).

Not really. A lot of other sites skew younger.
