It's a film with lovely cinematography and decent acting, but it changes far too much about the novel to be a good adaptation, IMO. It's also one of those films where the script writer didn't trust modern audiences to be smart enough to grasp Austen's language, so he updated it and lost so much of the original charm and wit. Likewise, he didn't trust modern audiences to figure out that even though Elizabeth is a gentleman's daughter, her family is "only" well off, not super rich like Darcy is. So he portrays the Bennets living like they're rural farmers, messing around in the stable and having a pig literally stroll through their house like they're medieval peasants.
