I honestly miss when I had the time and energy to be active in fandom and create things. It was nice to be somewhat popular in my niche fandom for a couple years there.

I don't think it's sad at all, no matter why you're doing it. It makes you happy on some level, and you get the fuzzy warm community of other fans saying Yay to the thing you made, so it's all good. Make nothing but fandom amigurumi if that's your jam!

I totally get it. I’m a maker and I do a mix of fandom and non fandom stuff. The fandom stuff always gets the most attention when I post pics of my work. And that’s the main reason I do fandom stuff. I wish my non fandom stuff got half as much appreciation because most of it is original work from start to finish and the fandom stuff is basically just manufacturing someone else’s design.

You craft to your output, and if people aren't churning out 45 kids who all need their own quilt or crocheted blanket anymore, but people ARE into plushies and crafts made from nerdy fabrics? You craft to that.

There's nothing wrong with enjoying validation and praise. IMO, it's only natural to be more inclined to do things that other people express their appreciation for. If you're having fun, then don't let any weird guilt ruin that fun. Hobbies aren't supposed to be a punishment.

That would definitely be me in the regency era though, I have always been so awkward at dancing and I would absolutely sit in the corner not caring about my reputation. Literally what I do at any party. Though in those days the dance moves were very scripted so maybe that would make it easier for me, not having to 'come up' with dance moves on the spot and look like an idiot.

On the one hand, I’m a rational adult human being and I understand that different people react to media in different ways and like and dislike different things and that’s completely okay.

On the other hand, what the fuck is wrong with everyone? I cried at that movie and you didn’t, you must be judging me! I love this character and you don’t, you’re a big meanie! I can clearly see that these two belong together and you prefer the fandom juggernaut ship, you’re a blind sheeple! Why is everybody so wrong and mean about everything???
