Exercise.

Specifically people who have FUN exercising. Who say they get a "rush" or that after the first 350 miles or whatever it feels good.

Bullshit. It hurts, it aches, fatigue is low, uncomfortable and unpleasant, panting and the accompanying inability to breath fully causes panic and stress.

Enduring exercise for health? Sure, fine. Exercising to gain some physical advantage? Ok makes perfect sense. Exercising for fun, for the physical enjoyment of it? no. It's cope. You've somehow brainfucked your way into enjoying pain.

And it's not JUST that I am now out of shape. Because I used to be in shape. I used to be 16 and play rugby and ran and lifted. At no point in my physical journey was exercising anything other than physical torture.

I read an interesting article once talking about this. Apparently there are some people that legitimately get a rush from endorphins and adrenaline when exercising. So yeah, they actually enjoy and feel good and energized when exercising. And then there are the rest of us poor schmucks that just get tired and out of breath and sweaty. It was really interesting and validating because no matter what shape I've been in I never get the "runner's high" type of thing people talk about.

I do get less sweaty and less out of breath the better shape I'm in, but still no high.

It really depends on which kind of exercise you do, imho.
For me dancing, hiking and biking give me a rush. I love doing those activities. Not only for the sense of accomplishment (especially for hiking), but just moving my body that way is really really fun and liberating to me. It makes me feel human and connected to myself, if it makes sense.

Traditional sports like football (soccer), volleyball, tennis etc are not that enjoyable to me, but they provide social connections, so at least that is not pure torture and serve an "higher" purpose. I can ignore the fatigue and the grossness because I have fun interacting and bonding with other people.

Running or exercising at a gym is torture, though... All that you say in your post is relatable to me if you're talking about running or gym. "Enjoying" that is "cope" and king of fucked up! It's not natural for humans to exercise like that, come on!

Omg this made me sad. I do get a rush out of exercise, must suck to feel nothing from it.
