I know nothing about this show. I didn't see the fandom title at first and just saw Penelope and thought this was about Garcia. Really relieved it was not. Because Garcia is awesome.

I kinda thought the writers made it clear she'd really hurt people and been a crappy friend, but it's been a while and I wasn't *that* engaged.
Because she WAS a crappy friend and hurt people, and her being hurt by others of her social class didn't excuse her.

I did *like* her, but yeah, she needed to check herself.

To an extent, I agree.

I'm not in the Bridgerton fandom but I do watch the show. I have friends who are in the fandom, and hearing them talk about the fandom makes me not want to join more than I do.

I think Penelope is/was an interesting character, but season 3 was a huge ass mess and Penelope didn't really suffer any consequences.
I think she is deserving of a Happily Ever After given that the genre is fictional period romance. However, it needs to be earned and while I really enjoyed some aspects of Penny's story (especially with her mom, a little with Eloise but that could have been better executed), the romance and the battle of unveiling Lady Whistledown really sucked.
Especially compared to season 2 with Anthony Bridgerton's redemption arc.

I know it's super easy to fall back on fat jokes at the expense of a fat character/actor, but a lot of Penny's criticism had nothing to do with her weight.

Enterprise was truly awful. But I thought Discovery was pretty neat sometimes!

Enterprise, as a whole, was not great, but it did have some really good episodes in its final two seasons. I think the show just took too long to get started and never felt as old as the premise made it out to be.

I recently bought a tablet/kindle/etc holder and a kindle remote page turner and it has brought me so much joy I am bursting and needed to share.

I have chronic pain and I have some days where I am stuck in bed, some days even stuck laying flat on my back. This holder clamps onto my nightstand and has a long adjustable arm so I can position it wherever I need it, and the page turner is just one little handheld button. It has helped me so much on bad days and I wish I had known about this sooner!

Feel free to share your own Highly Recommended idea/product/fic/whatever if you have one. Or ask for one if you're looking for something.

For anyone in NC who voted in the 2024 election

The loser of the North Carolina Supreme Court race in 2024, Jefferson Griffin, has repeatedly challenged the results (it was recounted twice with his opponent, Allison Riggs, still winning), and then sued to have around 65,000 legal votes tossed out (citing some ineligibility nonsense, despite the fact the voters showed ID to vote. Yes, this bullshit and sets a dangerous precedent for anyone who doesn't like the outcome to an election).

If you are an NC voter or know someone who voted in NC last year, you may want to check if your vote counted. The Triangle Blog Blog has a list of affected voters and instructions on how to update one's voter file so that the vote counts (because of course, they would put this on the voter). Yes, this decision will be appealed, but if I were on that list, I wouldn't leave anything to chance. Though it's just probably just a good idea to check your voter registration/file from time to time.
