I am mostly into early 20 century right now.
I have a actual degree in Heian Japan clothes lol

Anyway, I always sort of hated history at school before I've realised that you can learn about arts, crafts, language AND political shit as a background flavour. And not vice versa. I really do not care about monarchs and wars if it's not helping me right now.

You can get a degree in that?

I find Heian Japan interesting (quite enjoyed "The World of the Shining Prince" even if it is somewhat out of date)... though it's not helping me get through The Tale of Genji any more easily.

Sort of, actually I have degree in design, but my graduate thesis (is this the right word combination? English isn't my first language) was about historical reconstruction and impact on modern design of Heian era clothing. Yes, being nerd is my lifestyle :D I've made some clothes too, with "plum flowers in bloom" color scheme and all.

I had fun with Tale of Genji, but it's... yeah. Product of its time
