I don't get it, either. I don't hate the show, but [most of] the fans ARE insane, and they're totally turning me off to it by shoving it in my face. It feels like Twilight all over again. "Check it out! You'll love it! I promise! You don't like it? Fuck you!"

I actually agree with this secret to an extent.

Though tbrh that Rachel girl is marginally the reason why I can't stomach the show. Like that jock said, "she makes me want to light myself on fire".

I personally take it as a heartwarming show with good vibes, and honestly I do feel the writing is pretty crafty, it may not be realistic, but there are so many quotable lines imo. I got into it pretty recently because I generally steer clear of anything with a major fandom, so maybe coming it from a different angle helped me like it, but I feel like I like how it does sort of root for the underdog, and as long as they begin to focus on the more minor characters (like Tina,Artie,Mercedes) I'm all set. I just fear that they'll focus too much on the pretty white kids and it becomes some gossip girl fiasco (pregnancy plots are awful imo). Although I don't see the character inconsistencies which you state. I'd be curious which ones you're pointing to...

But I also guess I don't ask for a show to be perfect 100% of the time, nothing is. I'm just not a fan of people who have to rip everything to shreads just because they don't like something and they don't 'get' why a show is popular. You don't have to be so spiteful in your terminology. You can say this in a less petty/more mature fashion.

Also just an fyi: the choreo is supposed to be horrible. None of them know how to dance (except for the actor in the wheelchair ironically) and the group is just starting out. I personally like half the song choices, hate the other half but I think that's too personal taste for it to be something judged.

I dunno, I like it but I don't take it as seriously as most people seem to do. It's just a lulzy show and it's fairly entertaining, but I don't try to dig deep into it because like Popular, this show can't really withstand it.

Oh, and Rachel is obnoxious and grating but as long as they keep the focus on all characters and not make it the Rachel show I'm good.

I like the show but can't stand most of the characters and I've only seen the first two episodes. The songs in those two weren't very good either, but I take that as "warming up," ya know?

Such a shame to hear the fandom is nuts. I was thinking about jumping in, but now I'm afraid :(

I enjoy it sometimes (I have icons from it, at least), but yeah, I agree with, like, 50% of your criticisms. Inconsistent characters/poor character development, rushed pacing, irritating relationships - this show has it in spades. I don't have any opinions on the singing and dancing, because I don't tend to notice that kind of stuff unless they're literally so awful that I have to cover my ears, but I don't quite get all the love. I enjoyed the first two episodes, but it went downhill real quick after that for me. Also, I don't really see the show subverting high school cliches very much, at least not in a way I hadn't seen a hundred times before (aside from Finn pulling the ol' seduction routine to get what he wanted - that pleased me).

I'm always a little baffled by people who bitch about fandoms. Is the fandom banging on your door and not taking no for an answer? If you don't like the show--which you clearly don't--don't watch it. If you like it, watch it. It has nothing to do with other fans. Hell, I watch this show and couldn't tell you a thing about the fandom or its fans because my involvement with the show begins and ends with... the show.

I'm not particularly attached to any of the characters, and...I'm pretty sure I wouldn't purchase this on DVD unless something awesome!!11 occurs, but I've always been attached to the underdog element. Singing is the icing on the cake. ...whether they are any good, I don't know. It's just fun to sit back and watch. I don't think too deeply about it.

Or not that many people really like it, it's just that the ones who do yell really loud about it all the time, so it seems like there's more of them than there really are. I agree with a lot of the things this secret is saying. I've seen a few eps, and it doesn't seem to be anything special, (I don't sympathize with any of the characters, I feel it's trying too hard in a lot of other aspects, as well) but I have a couple friends who seem to be creaming their pants over it. One is even like..."NO, TRUST ME! WATCH IT! YOU'LL LIKE IT!"
I even watched this one behind-the-scenes thing, and they just seemed to be all..."GREAT SINGING AND DANCING AND ACTING YES!"

In the end, the point of a tv show is to entertain, which is exactly what Glee is doing for the people who like it. What is or isn't entertaining is completely and utterly subjective. It is okay if someone finds something entertaining that you don't. You don't have to understand why or how they find it entertaining and you don't have to understand why or how you don't.
