I think that's part of the fantastic writing in this series - that it shows how complicated people can be, and that there are many layers to what happens in the show. This situation in particular was really conflicted, because Asif is right to want to protect people even if it means breaking laws by smuggling in refugees who are in danger. But he's wrong to do it the way he did, i.e. by endangering his partner and leaving him out of the decision-making. I agree with you that Sam's choice is portrayed as loving, but he was wronged by not being allowed to make that choice from the beginning, as an equal partner.

I like raw oysters, but they're not for everyone and I can totally understand being put off by the texture as well as the taste. But yeah, literature sometimes make food sound soooo much better than it does in real life, LOL.

I think the thing about Turkish Delight is that you have to spend over a decade on sugar rationing to get how delicious it could taste.

Can't speak to oysters, have never eaten one.

I like cooked oysters or canned stuff. The watery texture of raw is too weird for me, but I'm open to trying it again.

Raw oysters taste like the ocean, but are kind of...slimy, so you don't really chew them.

Best with a shake of tabasco sauce and a squeeze of lemon on them.

Yeah, I grasped that when I was older, and seeing the food descriptions through that filter was interesting. FWIW, I've had homemade Turkish delight that was very nice!

I loved the show! I barely remember it now tbh but I know that it was something I always looked forward to.
