Re: Vent about grocery prices.

ayrt - That's awesome and I'm jealous! I used to live somewhere where I could garden and I am lucky to live in an area that has a really long growing season so the yields were amazing. I usually stick to the veggies I would normally buy, so potatoes, tomatoes, cucumbers, peas, lettuce, zucchini, squash, and beans. We had a few fruit plants, mainly berries, but honestly the birds got most of them before we could so it didn't end up being worth it. Ugh I miss gardening so much. I'm hoping in the near future I can move somewhere where I can get back to it.

There is a couple in my town that was doing a "no grocery shopping" one year challenge, where they were trying to survive on only home grown products. It took a lot of prep beforehand, and obviously it takes a pretty dedicated strict diet, but I think it is such an interesting idea.

Thank you! I live in an area with a relatively short growing season, so starting indoors is practically a requirement. On that note I should specify the tomatoes are cherries, although I'm going to a local veggie plant sale next weekend and I'll be on the hunt for sauce tomato plants. :3 Your veggie list is extremely similar to mine! I'm planning on lots of types of beans since they're the key to a plant-based diet! We're not vegetarians but meat prices are also gonna keep going up, and I definitely don't have the space for farm animals (except chickens, which are on the itinerary but for eggs only; these hens will be hopelessly spoiled lmao).

Oh gosh yes, the birds. ;3; We have a thriving cherry tree that we net up sometimes, although it'll definitely be happening this year.

I hope you're able to move in the near future too! There's nothing like growing your own food. Or growing anything! It's good for the soul, I think. <3
