genuine question/wondering: Don't you think there's a difference between a fangirl/boy saying they want a 'seme' in real life, and someone simply being attracted to stronger personalities/liking to be on the bottom (if they are male or female)? I think there is. The 'not having a spine' thing I think I can connect with the fan ness. You know, is all jealous because some character has someone who initiates everything and ultra protects them and that. Also, I don't like the term 'seme' as used in fandom/what people think it means, because it just seems... hugely stereotypical, and it *is* in fandom, usually where the character or the person is all... stereotypically weak having to be protected by a big strong man. I know that there ARE relationships like that, but if a fangirl/boy is all 'ooo i want one!' then I'd also be like 'please. grow a spine'. But... I also dislike women who are all 'oh, i want to marry someone who is rich so I don't have to do anything ever again hurrah!' So when fans say 'ooo i want a seme too!' it doesn't seem like they have any effing clue.
Nothing wrong with liking stronger personalities in itself, or preferring certain positions.

That's what I mean, seme is a fandom term

Actually, according to my martial artist ex-boyfriend, it and uke are terms from uh... at least one of the martial arts. I can't remember which. And they have been for longer than they've been fandom terms. *dies*

To [livejournal.com profile] longlongwaytogo, I'll answer you when I'm more coherent. I've been awake for too long today. :3

It's okay, just wondering/thinking out loud.
