Not to take the bait, but there's really nothing fetishistic about people headcanoning a character as Trans, even when overdone, you're just a Transphobic weirdo.

And before someone misreads me, not for disliking queer hcs, but for thinking they are fetishes just because they are queer, it's straight up queerphobic/transphobic/homophobic talking point.

So much of fandom trans content is trans dudes and the very very intense fetishisations of their juicy vaginas. Yes, the adult content very much is fetish content. And even the non-explicit versions often do fetishise certain aspects of it. (You do seem to assume fetish content is something negtaive though - it isn't necessarily.)
A LOT of fandom content is created with some type of fetish or preference in mind. Queer content is not an exception and to pretend it is out of some misguided purity ideal is weird.

This. I have NEVER seen a trans girl headcanon in any of my fandoms - it's always, always trans dudes AND it's always the femme guys getting headcanoned as trans, never the masculine, buff ones.

It's fine if that's your fetish but people need to be honest that that's what it is, not try to dress it up as somehow being some kind of trans representation or anything like that.

DA

Also, the trans dude is ALWAYS bottom and never in the ass. It's always the front hole. Like, just own your fetish, guys (and tag it!!). Stop pretending that always making the more feminine man a trans man who always gets fucked in the vagina is praxis.

I've seen transgirl headcanons in yuri a lot, usually so they can have PIV and pregnancy. It's such a turn off and often triggers my own trauma and dysmorphia that I don't look at femslash anymore.

A lot of it is a kink thing. Doesn't make it bad. Just like slash isn't usually a realistic, serious portrayal of gay life, trans fic is usually escapism and/or kinking on the character being trans, which is just fine in a fictional story. Honestly you could be fine with IRL trans people and even love realistic trans stories, dealing with the day to day of being trans, but not be interested in the NSFW fic that so much trans headcanons in fandom focus exclusively on, and I wouldn't find that transphobic at all.

Here's the thing: you can write trans characters without being fetishistic about it. But the majority of trans headcanons don't do that - they write the character as being trans first and a character second, and yeah, that's fetishistic. It'd be the same if someone did that with a gay headcanon for a character, too.
