I like fried ground beef/pork but I hate the way it smells when you fry it - it's weirdly fishy?

If you're using canola oil to cook it, that might be the culprit. It can give off a fishy odor when subjected to high heat.

Huh. That's interesting because I do use it sometimes. I'll change up the oil next time!

I don't deep-fry often, but noticed that myself one day after switching from peanut oil (so expensive) to canola. It doesn't seem to affect the taste of the fried food, but I don't like the odor of the oil, it kind of stinks up the kitchen. :(

For regular sauteeing, I use olive oil and that seems to do fine.
