It’s a totally valid headcanon! My issue is more with the insistence that it’s canon and also the trauma = autism thing.

As someone who lost her brother when she was 3, it messed me up. Both my parents were unresponsive and my godfather had to take my mother to the crash site so she could process it.

Nani and Lilo both definitely have trauma from losing their parents, Nani especially so because she needs to raise her kid sister now and the stress from finding a job and keeping the house together.

Lilo is also bullied and belittled because she's "different" and "weird" to the non-native white girl in her class. Trauma can come across as autism and autistic kids are twice as likely to have trauma from trying to fit in.

Headcanons are fine. Just keep them as fun headcanons, don't try to say it is legit canon and force it down the fandoms throat. I have seen this happen more and more in all sorts of fandoms.

It’s cultural norms being taken as autistic traits. There was a post going around a couple weeks ago claiming that she’s autistic because she has weird interests like hula dancing and Elvis music.” Both are pretty normal plus in the wider L&S canon we see that both are tied to her late parents.

There are many shared traits between autism and childhood trauma so I can see where the headcanon comes from. Although it does make me a little uncomfortable because we see Lilo healing and that reeks of Autism Speaks.

It’s so frustrating! I kinda suspect at least some of it is engagement mining.

I've always voted in every election but I'm trying to get more involved/aware of the day to day stuff in my city. I am currently watching our city council meeting that is shown live on our local public network station. It is somehow fascinating and boring at the same time. Excellent time for some crochet as I listen.

I’ve never heard that take before so now I’m curious about when you saw it, like if you were a kid yourself or older. If it’s been a while, I highly recommend watching it again. That may not change your mind about Lilo and that’s not actually why I recommend it. I just think it’s a fantastic movie that has more social commentary and more heart than it ever got credit for having. And it’s all still relevant today (unfortunately).

What do you use for adding text to your images? I'm getting a bit bored of the fonts I've been using.

Capcut. You can edit images and I find it less complicated than their picture editor app Hypic.

I vote for local elections. But I live in a small town in OK so, it doesn't help much.

Yeah, they were great, both all three of them together and Len with Lisa. More interactions with Lisa and Cisco could have been fun too.

We vote in every election, but it's very easy to do and I think the bare minimum since we live in Oregon and the ballot and ballot guide comes to our house.

Canva is the best for fonts! But you’d still have to run the image through another app to size the secret, there’s no way to set pixel size limits :(

I vote in every election and have volunteered as a poll worker, which I loved. I don't pay much attention to what the city council is doing between elections. That is something I should work on. :(

It's mandatory for Australians to vote in elections and I take pride in being able to vote.

Depends on my mood. Sometimes I'll use fonts that were used in the media (which sometimes requires googling).

Trying to, and stumbling, but admittedly watching a lot of stuff right now. It can get overwhelming. Also trying to get back into local Indivisible meetings and seeing what I can do for No King's Day and beyond.

That's still more than what a lot of folks will do for most state and local elections.
