At the risk of sounding callous, I'm so sick of hearing about the Middle East.

Can someone please explain to me why any of the rest of the world is supposed to care if they blow each other up. Because it seems like that's just what they do and have always done.

Yup. This is true in a lot of countries where awful things are happening now or have recently. If you look back at history, the root cause is often western country involvement.

This is a shaky argument popular in academia. Wars happen because of disputes over resources. Has the west egregiously interfered and exploited these areas for its own gain? Yes. Would these areas be at war regardless? Probably.

I don't know why they're involved. That's why I asked. The Middle East seemed capable of constant warfare throughout history without the west's involvement.
