I'd be okay with a remake. Dunno about Cavill - he's not that interesting to me. It'd be kind of fun to have someone young and new and different.

I do want the original soundtrack. Nothing beats that!

I'd really like to see a reboot. No particular actor in mind, but yeah, someone who can do a credible accent and perform the fight choreography well. It'd be great to see immortals from all over the world, their various weapons, friendships, rivalries and politics.

I'd love a remake, but he needs to be young and relatively unknown. IMO that's what made Christopher Lambert so perfect in the original. He was under 30, not extraordinarily attractive, even a bit scrawny, and it gave the character a vulnerable, everyman quality.

Honestly, right there with you. I loved the movie, but lbr here. It was b-movie schlock and so were all the sequels, few to none of which made any actual sense, but that was never the point *g*

But what launched Highlander was, in order:

1) Queen.
2) Sean Connery
3) Sword fights (set to Queen, and sometimes involving Sean Connery) with sparks added just for funsies.

No offense to Cavill, I'm looking forward to him doing something with Voltron, but basically he can only bring parts of point 3. .5 out of 3 ain't good. They've got to get the Queen soundtrack on this. Absolutely no question about it.

Yeah, I feel that, OP. In my case, it's battling depression and health issues, long term. It doesn't leave a lot of energy.

Not the same as your situation since I do have new interests that keep me entertained at the moment, but I feel this. I changed from a massive geek who was into games and TV shows to a basic bitch with almost no interest in consuming media (I recently wrote a secret about it, lol) and it hasn't been easy. There were a few months were I was doing some serious soul searching to understand what I really liked and valued in my life and I had to completely rethink who I thought I was.
This happened to me in my early 30s. Still happening now as I'm always trying to try new things and crafts. I'm kind of liking this "identity crisis" period of my life because I can sense all the endless possibilities and I don't feel the pressure to commit to anything.

But yeah, letting go of my "loving Japanese shit" phase as someone who has studied Japanese in university and lived in Japan for years has been quite hard. I still like Japanese as a language and I continue to revise my kanji/vocabs on a daily bases, but it's now just part of my "interested in languages" box.
I've go much weaboo shit to sell... All those doujinshi and action figures I collected... SIGH. I'd like to just trash them all and call it a day, but I could make a bit of money on them. So I just... keep them. Because I can't be arsed to put them on any reselling sites. MMMMH...

I’ve been through this a few times. For me it’s a combination of aging and changing media (themes, style, release method, etc). I’ve found a few things to enjoy and even a couple to fall in love with, but mostly I’m apathetic about modern media. And I haven’t made any fandom friends in a very long time, I gave up even trying years ago. I just don’t fit *shrug*
