I feel you. My family was also poor, as well as Asian (had the stereotypical "study study study you don't need this game(s)" parents), so I grew up in a strict household, so I was limited on many games I really wanted to play. Certainly I've been in a lot of fandoms, but there were so many I wished I could have played or watched and joined instead of being from the sidelines.

I don't know if I quite mourn it, mostly because I'm an adult who can buy all the stuff I wanted when I was younger (and it makes me happy), but I get you.

Same. I got to buy most of what I wanted, not splurge, often the cheap version but enough to get a taste. Turns out yes I like the taste but I also like work-life balance

My parents were very strict and obsessive about controlling what I read or watched, and a lot of people my age are nostalgic for things I was forbidden from (like Pokemon). I also really regret not getting to be part of so many fandoms. I try to take time to have fun with kid shows and games now and again as an adult to relax and give myself a chance to enjoy the things I couldn't back then, but I understand the sadness of missing out in childhood.

Same, especially when the climate has changed since :(

In a similar boat. I grew up not allowed to do/own a lot of things. It was a mix of finances and my mom being weirdly strict on random things.
